Sad to say, the Shannara Chronicles suffers from bad scripting and wonky conversation choices; accentuated with a forced romance triangle which does not work. Regardless of the over-arching plot being endearing enough no matter funding limitations, the series still feels like a missed opportunity that does not really do the books justice. The narrative revolves round the Four Lands and the stirring of early Druid Allanon. He warns of a growing danger of demons going to be hailed as the early tree that shields the planet, that the Ellcry, is starting to die. Concerning storyline, its surely engrossing enough and moves along at a steady pace with increasing suspense because the demon force develops.

When distinct strains of demon attack the elven kingdom and inflitrate the palace, its cleverly performed with sufficient menace and activity to keep the series feeling refreshing. At odds with this however is that the trio of main characters whom the planet's destiny falls with. Its apparent very early on the Shannara Chronicles is a series catered to your young adolescent audience. The figures are excessively sexualised, with over a few scenes including kissing and making love, one specifically completely unncessary throughout the impeding demon onslaught from the climactic event. Conditions like "real bad" and "sloppy seconds" are a few of the worst examples here and also the unnecessary focus on the 3 figures' love triangle draws away the attention from the overarching plot that's really very well assembled, sprinkled with great bursts of activity. Die-hard fans of this book might be horrified with the project MTV have done here but its at least commendable that they have attempted to tailor this outstanding fantasy epic to some other sector. 

Oftentimes its driven romances are badly handled but the actors do a fantastic job of at least attempting to make the script work. Its certainly one of the worst areas of the dream series that does get a number of things right. The special effects are usually good, with a smart use of practical results and CGI. The costume and character design are great but regardless of the time spent together with the primary characters, the supporting cast are arguably more intriguing. Druid Allanon is great in his character, controlling a feeling of dominance and puzzle in equivalent doses woven through his traces. If you can forgive that the series does mess up a few of these locales and the narrative does not adhere to the books to a tee shirt, there are still advantages to take from this series -- many of that in the visual layout, light and sweeping vistas that do a wonderful job of displaying the entire world.

Overall however, The Shannara Chronicles is only a mean fantasy story. You will find elements of the series that make it an engrossing view -- intriguing characters, excellent spins, good lighting and an fantastic decorative constitute the majority of the but its let down by some awkward dialogue choices. The key characters are arguably the most peculiar aspect of this series also; secured at a pressured love triangle which devalues the effect the over-arching plot ought to have on the figures.
